One resident in Drumdarroch now regularly tends to our garden happily and independently, often having to be asked to come inside at mealtimes.

Trip to the Circus

We had a trip with residents from Magdalen and Harestane to the Chinese State Circus, held at Riverside Dundee. There were trapeze artists, acrobats, dancers, Shaolin monks, Dragons and a dancing monkey! Everyone had a great time, especially when we had the candy floss.

 

2018 October Better Gen

Better:Gen is an exciting new concept in daily living and health promotion specifically targeting adults who would not ordinarily access health and wellness activities. Magdalen Residents have been enjoying keep fit in a unique way. They have been attending Better: Together by Better:Gen. This is a regular social event which focuses on bringing the younger and older generations together for a fun-filled day of health, wellness and integrational activity.

 

Special Olympics

Staff supported us to raise money to go towards our trip to Sheffield to take part in the Olympics selling cakes and raffles. We took part in the Special Olympics this summer, we went to Sheffield and stayed in the Olympic village. We won medals for playing boccia, and all celebrated at the end of the games with a big party. We could not wait to come home and show off our medals to all our friends.

Easter Bunny Competition

We had a wonderful time designing an Easter Bunny competition this year. My Bunny came 2nd and I won a Doris Day CD and a basket of chocolates. We enjoyed an Easter Buffet and party at night I enjoyed a wee Sherry at the party. We celebrate lots of things at St Vigeans every year from Burns Supper, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Wimbledon, Halloween, St Andrews day. Especially Christmas this is always special we have lots of parties and Santa visits. This year has been good with two royal weddings we decorate our house and have strawberry afternoon teas. We also celebrate everyone’s birthday.

Tummel Valley Holiday Home

Priority Care have purchased a Holiday Home in the beautiful Tummel Valley. The 6 berth caravan is to be used by Residents and their families and Priority Care staff.

The caravan is designed to provide wheelchair users safe, easy access in a relaxing comfortable space. It has a low level cooker and sink making it easy for everyone to get involved. Also a full wet room with a fold down seat and hand rails making it safe and comfortable.

The caravan is ready to be booked and families are Local Attractions close by include,
The Beautiful Queens View, a panorama of amazing scenery and is known as one of the most outstanding beauty spots in Scotland.
Highland Safaris: take a Land Rover Safari and combine nature, culture and history – don’t forget your camera.
Pitlochry: A bustling Victorian town surrounded by mountains, Enjoy Shopping, visit the dam, get some lunch.

Tummel Valley is a great base to do some sightseeing around Scotland or just relax by the side of the river.
