Fancy Hat Day – Fundraiser

Staff at Drumdarroch have decided to hold a fun in-house fundraiser on the last Friday of each month.

We have lots of ideas for these events. Last month we had a “fancy hat” day.

Staff and visitors each paid £1 to wear our best hats with some residents making their hats for the occasion!

It was great fun!

Please join us in congratulating:

Their new roles will help us continue delivering the highest standard of care and support to those we serve.

We look forward to the positive impact they will make in their new capacities

MacMillian Coffee Morning

I would like to thank everyone, for their ongoing support and hard work that was put into our coffee morning last Friday. It is very much appreciated, and it was a great day, much enjoyed with tenants’ family & friends who all come along to support Magdalen’s coffee morning . Apologies we were all too busy having fun that we did not get many photos of the day.

It is the first time that Magdalen has hosted a MacMillan coffee morning and we decided to do this in memory of Alan Douglas who we sadly lost to Cancer on the 9th May this year.

The amount raised for MacMillian Cancer Support from Magdalen House is £1420

Which is a fantastic amount, well done everyone who supported Magdalen.

Sunday Times Care Home League Top 10

We are very proud to announce Harestane Care Home has been featured in The Sunday Times as one of the top ten Care Homes in Scotland in their Care Home League Table for 2024.

The Care Inspectorate ranks care homes on a six-point scale from “excellent” to “unsatisfactory” across five categories of wellbeing, leadership, staff and setting, as well as care and support.
The Sunday Times aggregates these grades into a total score of up to 30 to produce its annual Care Home League Table.

Top ten care homes in Scotland according to recent inspections

1. Robert Douglas Memorial Home, Perth and Kinross
2. Abbeyfield Ballachulish, Highland
3. Balcarres, Dundee city
4. Gowanlea, Stirling
5. Cluny Lodge Nursing Home, Edinburgh
6. Harestane Nursing Home, Dundee city
7. St Ninians Care Home, Perth and Kinross
8. Ludgate House Resource Centre, Clackmannanshire
9. Glencairn, Edinburgh
10. Craighall House, Edinburgh

Well done to Maggie, Jaqueline & the whole team at Harestane for achieving this. This is quite an achievement especially considering there are more than 1000 care homes in Scotland.
