Senior Estates Technician / Estates Supervisor

Salary: £35,000 - £38000 depending on skills and experience (37.5 hours per week)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Estates Technician to support the ongoing development of our multi-site care home estate.
This is a key operational role, combining day-to-day maintenance with oversight of estates activity across multiple sites.
You will work closely with the Estates Lead to ensure the estate is safe, compliant, and operating efficiently, while also playing a central role in coordinating maintenance activity.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Technical
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across multiple care home sites
- Take ownership of larger and more complex maintenance issues
- Support specialist plant systems including:
- Hydrotherapy pool plant
- Biomass heating systems
- Diagnose faults and implement effective solutions
Coordination & Oversight
- Review and prioritise maintenance jobs across sites
- Support allocation of work to other engineers
- Ensure maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard
- Liaise with home managers to manage workload and expectations
Contractor & Project Management
- Coordinate external contractors (plumbing, electrical, fire systems etc.)
- Supervise works on site
- Support small projects and improvement works
Compliance & Safety
- Support compliance across:
- Fire safety systems
- Water hygiene (legionella control)
- Health & safety requirements
- Ensure all works are carried out safely and in line with regulations
On-Call
- Participate in a shared on-call rota (approximately 1 week in 3)
- Respond to emergency maintenance issues when required
Requirements
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong all-round maintenance experience (multi-trade)
- Has worked in a multi-site environment (care, hotel, NHS, housing etc.)
- Is confident managing contractors and coordinating work
- Can take ownership and work independently
- Is organised and able to prioritise effectively
- Has a proactive, problem-solving mindset
Desirable Experience
- Experience in care homes, healthcare, or facilities management
- Knowledge of plant systems (heating, water, pool systems)
- Basic electrical / plumbing competency
- Health & safety awareness
Essential Experience
- Driving licence (essential)
